ABA SKILL INTERNATIONAL  ATV/UTV ‘Gator’ course (Conventional Steered)

Sit in ATVs, ‘Gators’  are not only fun, but are also very versatile vehicles with various  of attachments including trailers, sprayers and spreaders making them an effective and flexible business tool. However, even the most experienced ATV riders can find themselves in a potentially dangerous situation, and without the proper training serious accidents can occur.

Target audience:

The Sit in ATV or ‘Gator’ course is for anyone who uses or will be using a sit-in ATV, whether this is for the work place or for leisure.

Description:

Our Sit in ATV or ‘Gator’ course has experienced instructors who will guide you through the training to make sure that you are able to use the ATV safely and with confidence, and that the key fundamentals of driving, loading and health and safety are covered. Once you have successfully carried out this course you will receive a certificate of training for Sit-in ATV (Conventional Steered).

Upon completing the training course you will be able to:

  • Comply with legal and safety requirements with an emphasis on safe practice.
  • Identify the risks associated with using a Sit in ATV or ‘Gator’.
  • Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Understand the main causes of accidents.
  • Identify the controls and components.
  • Understand the function of all instruments.
  • Carry out daily checks as indicated in the operator’s manual.
  • Carry out appropriate pre-start checks.
  • Identify and report any faults.
  • Start up and drive over a variety of terrain and ground conditions.
  • Carry out a ‘failed hill’ climb (full course only).
  • Carry out a risk assessment and plan the route.
  • Operate the Sit in ATV or ‘Gator’ safely on a variety of slopes and terrain (full course only).
  • Identify loading/towing capacities.
  • Drive with loads and trailed equipment (full course only).
  • Load and secure for transport on the road (if appropriate).
  • Understand legal and practical requirements for travelling on the public road.
  • Identify track profile and weight transfer.
  • Load and unload machine from trailer/lorry.

Our course is certified by ABA Skills International and can be held at your place or ours.

Ratio for training is 4:1:1 machine
