GWO SLINGER SIGNALLER

GWO SLINGER SIGNALLER provides the skills and knowledge to WORK  safe and effectively  as a Slinger/Signaller in the wind turbine industry and general workplace.

Course Information

The GWO Slinger Signaller/Rigger Signal Person training module enables delegates to support and care for themselves and others by possessing the required knowledge and skills to conduct assigned tasks safely and efficiently.

The slinger signaller training is a course that was released by the GWO (Global Wind Organisation) in 2019 after industry leaders highlighted concerns that lifting and slinging operations in the wind industry was potentially high risk to personnel.

Whats covered:

·         Attaching and detaching the load to and from the crane lifting attachment

·         Initiating and directing the safe movement of the crane, including multiple slinger signallers during limited or blind lifts

·         Adhering to their role and responsibilities during the lift

·         Conducting visual pre and post inspection on lifting accessories and load

·         Handling of lifting accessories

·         Ensuring safe lift-off and lay down of the load

·         Slinging/rigging various types of load, based on weight, centre of gravity, shape and size

·         Carrying out generic routine lifts in accordance with the lift plan

·         Complying with instruction/procedures set up by the employer to manage lifting

·         Ensuring that equipment is properly used, maintained and defects reported

This Slinger Signaller course is one of several Global Wind Organisation (GWO) courses that we offer. Individuals in the wind industry, who conduct slinging and signalling during simple lifting operations will benefit from this training.

Assessments:

Delegates will need to complete written and practical assessments  during the GWO Slinger Signaller.

The  Slinger Signaller acts as the eyes and ears of the person operating the crane who won’t be able to see everything happening around them. An obstructed view for a Crane Operator increases loading and lifting risks, and general site safety can be compromised.

The Slingers’ main responsibility is to communicate with the Crane Operator using a series of hand signals. These hand signals help the operator to manoeuvre the crane in a safe and efficient way.

The standard hand signals used in the by Slinger Signallers are laid out in current standards  Also The signals must be precise, easy to make, and easy to understand.

This course, more specifically, aims to ensure participants feel confident in supporting and caring for themselves and others. Essentially, you will learn the required knowledge and skills in order to conduct assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
