Slinger/Signaller Course




Course Aim:

The aim of this 1 day (experienced) or 3 day (new entrant) course is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge & understanding for to be a competent Signaller/Slinger

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course the learners will be:

  • Aware of the current Health & Safety Legislation as it applies to Signaller/Slinger
  • Able to use & understand hand signals as they apply to Slingers, Signallers
  • Able to guide & select appropriate lifting equipment
  • Able to recognise hazards & risks associated with blind lifts


Course Programme:

  • Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005
  • Employers & Employees legal duties under current Health & Safety Legislation
  • Identify workplace hazards regarding Slinger/Signaller
  • Understand the principles for the correct selection of Lifting Equipment
  • Identify & apply the full range of Slinging & Signaller methods
  • Apply & Understand slinger/Signaller Operations


Training Methods:

Classroom based presentation on power-point.
Learners will learn and practice lifting operations & using hand signals

Who Should Attend?

Those employees who are responsible for or in control of all lifting equipment

Additional Information:

Maximum of 4 learners
1 or 3 Days (See above)

SOLAS CSCS Identity Card & QQI certification will be awarded to those who successfully complete & pass the course

Learners must have an up to date Safe Pass Card & their own PPE (e.g. Safety Footwear)
Non experienced learners must have at least 3 months experience on a site (Not slinging/signalling) learners must be at least 18 years of age.
